    I have 2 PC's linked with a LAN.

From work they requested that we changed our default English setting to South Africa. As part of that, one needs to restart the PC. It went well with the laptop, but now the desktop gets stuck on the second screen, after the initial Zotal screen.

The screen starts with IDE, etc
    Then PCI device listing...

    Then it says:
    Verifying DMI Pool Data
    Boot from CD:

    NTLDR is missing
Press Ctrl Alt Del to restart, but it does not start up.

I do not have my Windows XP Cd anymore, but has my Office 2007. Put that in, no difference.

    Can anyone please help!!

Thanks for that, but I am still having problems.

I tried the USB way, but despite pressing escape, and trying to start with all three USB options, I could not get it going.

I then downloaded the CD version. As soon as I have downloaded it, the Roxio screen opens and I cannot actually open the folder. But I decided to write the Cd. I put it in the broken PC and started the PC. It gave your 10 options. Most of them say "Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: Windows\System32\Hal.dll" I also got this message" Windows could not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem "

    Hope you can help me!!

Well, I have managed to get one step further.

When starting, I keep on pressing escape and then this screen appears:

(When I used my memory stick, I tried all 3 options, that did not work)

If I go to hard disk, the following appears:
    http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/ii62/avz10/IMG_0766.jpg
    [IMG]

The first option (Ch0) does not work, but Ch 2 starts the computer, and everything is working.

When I shut down, I get the same NTLDR message.

Does this help and can someone help me further?

It look as if I am getting somewhere!

Please explain a bit better- what do I do first and how. I realize that I need to get a bootable disk, but what files are you talking about? Sorry about my ignorance!

    Yes, I have.

I downloaded the bootable "disk ", but it was not in a bootable format. Should I write it on a CD?

Then do it. Start your computer & see if the problem returns.

If the problem disappears, swap the SATA cables of both the drives so that Seagate drive comes on Ch.1 & Samsung goes to Ch. 2. In BIOS, set the boot device as Seagate one on Ch. 1.

You don't have to do anything in BIOS. You BIOS defaults to booting from hard disk on Ch. 1.
