have a Dell Inspiron 2200 lap top with a Sony CDRW/DVD CRX835E. I purchased some DVD+RW DVDs to back up some data files on my computer however the DVD does not appear to be recognized. I have backed up files before to disk without a problem but I can't figure out what the issue is this time. Is there something that needs to be done to the DVD before files can be written to the disk. Any suggestions?

    Thanks

The Sony CDRW/DVD CRX835E cannot write to DVDs. It can do this:
    CD Read: 24 X
    CD Write: 24 X
    DVD Read: 8 X

In short, it's a combo drive that can read & burn CDs, & only read DVDs. Return the DVD+RW disks and get CDR or CDRW disks.

Thanks TonyT, I had a feeling that may be the case, but I was unable to find the information you provided.

Thanks, I made the mistake of going to the Inspiron 2200 owners manual.
