I have Roxio Creator 9 and also some other software (not nero). I want to copy a CD to my HD in either .wav or MP3. But How?? :D

An audio ripper program first extracts the music from the CD into a WAV file, then it is compressed to a MP3 file. Some of them can do it on the fly, meaning the music isn't first extracted to a WAV file but direct to MP3, but it isn't always reliable. Windows Media Player can do this if you have a MP3 encoder installed for it.

I use a program called CD'n'Go, for the reason it has what is called a Normalizer. What this does is raise the audio volume of the WAV file if it is below a set threshold before it is compressed into a MP3 so all your music has the same volume level.

Thanks for all the quick responses. I was amazed by something else, however. No sooner had I finished my entry than I got a screen for several free apps that would do what I wanted.

Used them and did it all
