Foxit Reader is my default, but I've just run into a couple of websites that require Adobe as default. Where is the "button" on Adobe that enables me to switch to Adobe from Foxit?

    There is no switch button.
You have to right click on any .pdf file, click Open with, select Adobe, and put checkmark in Always use the selected program to open this kind of file box.

Broni....no, that doesn't work. It changes individual PDF files, but in this case (for ex), I click on a Vanguard link to get my 1099, but it opens in Foxit (with errors, which is why I need it to open in Adobe). It seems to happen everywhere I'm on my browser and need to open a link contained within a website. I may have to reinstall Adobe?

If you have the newest FoxIt version, it's set to display pdf documents from within the browser.
    Try this...
    Close Firefox.
Open FoxIt, go Edit>Preferences, click on Internet, and un-check Display PDF in Browser.
    Now, try again.

I have Foxit ver 3.0 and downloaded my 1099 with no problems. What sort of error are you getting?

Websites usually say you need adobe reader but if it is a .pdf file, your default reader will open it fine.

Broni....I'll bet the folks who wrote Foxit don't know about that tweak!

Bmoore...my Vanguard 1099's show up in Foxit altho Adobe is set as default. Also, the Foxit 1099 has no numbers (entries), just the blank form itself.

I tried Broni's suggestion, now I get the blank forms in Adobe! Now all I need is the numbers.

I read deeper into the Vanguard website; it turns out that these forms are not PDF, but something called FDF (sort of a hybrid PDF). Foxit cannot read FDF (at this time), so that's why I need Adobe. But as with Foxit, I get the form in Adobe but no numbers. Could that mean Adobe 8 can't read FDF, but Adobe 9 can? The Help section in Adobe 8 never mentions FDF.

Broni...can't tie you in, the links are password protected (it's my retirement portfolio!). Agree, Adobe should do it...but Adobe 8?

From what I have been reading, You may be able to download the .fdf file and change the extension to .pdf then open it with Foxit or Adobe.

The problem seems to be that a .pdf form is form and data together and .fdf is data only without the form.
