I think I can confidently say, based on looking at a lot of gaming benchmarks, that the extra $500 for the Intel Core i7 Extreme Edition 965 Nehalem 3.2GHz isn't going to get you much at all - and definitely not be worth the extra cost.

The Core i7 processors are real "monsters" but a lot of their power doesn't translate into monstrous gaming performance.

After doing some research on the new AMD Phenom II 940 "Dragon" platform, I was amazed at the great run-for-the-money that this AMD chip is giving to the Core i7 chips....at a significantly lower price point.

what im looking at for the client because he saw this machine is the dell studio xps with vista home premium 64bit with 4g memory the i7 920 processor, ati radeon hd 4670 512mb, 640mb h.d.

so whats your thoughts on that configuration for a gaming machine also the wife is going to use for business purposes.
