Recommendations for backup software

    This is one of those times when I'm very, very embarrased to ask this question. I have a great External 500GB Lacie hard drive to save my important files to. Can someone show me the best free backup software to use or the easiest backup to my external HD. Sorry about my brainfart in how to do this best???

    It would have helped if you had posted your OS - if you are using XP there is a built in backup facility - installed by default in Pro, but must be installed in Home .....

    How to use the Backup utility to back up files and folders in Windows XP Home Edition

    There is also one in Vista Business & Ultimate .....

    Windows Backup and Restore Center

    I prefer to use Syncback to make both scheduled backups on an hourly and weekly basis to other internal hard drives and manually instigated weekly backups to external hard drives.

    SyncBack is very popular...I mainly copy n paste to my external.
