Had to completely re-install XP and forgot where, in TWeakUI, I can remove the designation "Shortcut to" in my shortcuts. Had to almost completely reinstall the system so I am glad I partition out my software to D: and my Data to E:

    Thanks to this great resource.

tenbob: In mine, I open TweakUI, click on Explorer, and down the alphabetic list is the item you want. Does that work?

    Hi tenbob...

Tired of seeing arrows on Windows XP Explorer shortcut icons? Would you rather see a more transparent arrow or none at all? If so, you can make this change with Tweak UI:

    1) Start TweakUI
    2) Click on the "+" sign in front of "Explorer" on the left-hand side to expand it
    3) select\click "Shortcut "
    4) On the right-hand side you will have a chose of 4 options and one of those options is "None "
    - Arrow (default)
    - Light Arrow
    - None
    - Custom
    5) When your done click on "OK" to close.

Except you answered an un asked question.

There is a difference between the "Shortcut To" prefix and the shortcut icon overlay ;)

FWIW - Tweak UI can be added to the Control Panel using this applet from Doug Knox

Aha!!! It was clicking on the (+) that did me in. That is something they should fix in TweakUI.

    Thanks to all:p
