    Hi all,
my broadband connection runs ok for a while, (30 mins) then starts to slow until it stops altogether. If I restart the computer it runs normally again for the 30 mins then slows. I have AVG free installed and scan with Ad-Aware, A squared and Spy-Bot. The malware programmes usually find half a dozen or so bad files but removal seems to make no difference. Any suggestions?

I doubt at this point that malware is in play here - it seems that you do not have a real time adware/malware scanner installed which could be the reason why the other progs pickup some hits.

I am passing this over to the Networking forum for reaction there.

    Broadband connection slows

Your reply reminded me of a problem I've been having installing a firewall. I had ZoneAlarm installed but it caused problems with my internet connection so I tried to uninstall it and replace it with another firewall. The other firewalls would not install quoting a conflict with ZoneAlarm, (Comodo and PC Tools). I though ZoneAlarm had been successfully removed but it apparently isn't. Could this have anything to do with my slowing connection?

Doubt it - the worrying statement is your inability to install Commodo. Check the Windows Firewall is running - if it is not you may well have malware problems.

There is a manual uninstall guide at the Zone Alarm forum - pick up the process from after the second reboot, but make a manual System Restore point before you start on this.
