Hi, i've got my laptop for quite a few months now and recently, the temperature of the laptop suddenly skyrocketed.
Can anyone help me out with this problem?

Have you checked that the fan is running and that the cooling grills are clear?

As well as Pete's suggestions a faulty battery may be the issue, does the overheating happen when connected to mains or all the time?

It should be obvious if the grills need cleanig - if there's any fluff, dust bunnies in them then they need cleaning :) You have not responded to the question .....
If it is not when the laptop is hot then there's your answer!

@Pete Working from two different angles here, sorry.

    @jAsOs

Pete's idea is probably correct but since you're not using the battery it may be worthwhile removing it and seeing if the heating issue improves. If it does though this does not mean the battery was the problem only that heat dissipation has improved.

Alright, i removed the cover where my GPU and processor is located, used some compressed air to blow the heat sink. Not much dust came out of them but it somehow reduced my laptop's temperature.
Yes Pete, the fan is running really loudly, that's what made me post here.

OK - check in Task Manager and see if some process is hogging the CPU. The Performance tab will give you a realtime readout of CPU usage.

    what's a coctail stick?
Well my CPU usage spikes every once in a while. I've tried turning things of but it still stays that way

A thin wooden stick pointed at both ends, Pete's suggesting using a suitable (non conductive) tool to move the blockage and perhaps your compressed air can remove it.

As I posted and wildfire expanded upon use a non-conductive tool to loosen the dust accumulation and blow again.

What do you guys use in cocktails ? - for fixing the cherry or in buffets for securing cubes of cheese and pineapple - to name but a few applications :D

Check the downloads at Asus for a Service Manual or basic dismantling instructions. It is generally simple to remove the keyboard and you should be able to access all the cooling system underneath.

You are talking about a cooling pad. I think "we" are talking about getting the dust out of the laptop's cooling system. It seems you have experienced heat problems in the past, for which you purchased the cooling pad. The problem is probably that dust is blocking the cooling system inside the laptop. You should see an exhaust vent or feel heated air exhausting from it (unless it is totally blocked), on the laptop itself.

A laptop is highly compressed compared to a desktop computer, but it is even more important for cooling to work correctly. The laptop probably has a high movement of cooling air through it's (built-in) cooling system. The cooling system inside the laptop is probably blocked with dust.

Our suggestions (unless I am missing something) refer to the cooling system inside the laptop, not a cooling pad.

If you don't feel confident blowing out the cooling system on the laptop itself or opening it up to clean it out, take it to a computer repairer.

    Matt

It is vitally important that all the details of your problem are presented in your opening post - we do not have crystal balls, neither are we mind readers.
No mention of the use of a cooling pad, followed by ....
Then you throw in this comment ....
Still no mention of a cooling pad - we interpreted cooler to mean the CPU heatsink - no other interpretation possible. And then you throw in .....
We can only work on and be guided by the information posted and up to that point the advice stands.

The source of heat is the laptop - the cooling pad should not be generating heat unless it is faulty so look at the source - the laptop. If this is getting no hotter than it was prior to acquiring the cooler then it is clear that the efficiency of the cooler has deteriorated.

My earlier question regarding operation of the fan now needs to be posed again ....

Is the laptop fan running? - is the cooler fan running - I see there are 3 speeds?

Ok, i think there is a confusion here.
There is a reason why i made 2 separate threads.
This thread is for the heating issue for my laptop.
The other thread is for my laptop cooling pad, a Notepal Infinite.
    Both are separate issues.

@matt, i feel just fine blowing the dust out of my Laptop's internal cooling system.

@pete, Sorry for the confusion. I would like to know how to open up a Cooler Master Notepal infinite to clean up the dust.

As for the Laptop heating issue, it was resolved by blowing the dust build-up away from the heatsinks in the laptop and changing a few startup programs so that no unnecessary applications are turned on.

Sorry - no ideas - I have never seen one of these devices. It is quite probable that the device is not user serviceable, i.e. not designed to be opened.

I suggest you Google - as I would have to do or contact Coolermaster support.
