I have an outdated AVG Free which doesnt not update because "it cant access to the server "

I have a fully activated 1 time payment Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware and last 2 weeks, Im going to have a full scan. Later that day, it gave me Blue Screen at around 20 minutes of the scan. I know it was MBAM because it always happens when it's going to scan. I havent test on partial scan yet.

It even gave me the Blue Screen last week. I am afraid it will give me the same problem now.

I tried AVG Free and it's running smoothly. Actually, it's now scanning as I type and it's on past 1 hour.

Has anyone of you exprience problems with MBAM? I want to know the problems but I cant seem to find the problems.

    Regards,
    Chris

Sanning without recent definition updates is like eating a bowl of soup with a fork.

Are you running 7.5 or 8 and can you manually update your virus definitions? If the answer to the second part of this question is no, you are probably infected.

Re: MBAM - I've seen it blue screen an infected computer but that may not have any bearing on your specific situation.

can't find the appropriate manual updates on the website.

    --

My laptop is very clean. It has no virus, trojans, malwares and stuffs as far as I'm concerned.

I will test it on partial and then on full scan as soon as I'm done doing my presentations. I really love MBAM so much that I paid for it.

My AVG is version 8. I will look for our other machines if their's still updating. On my sis's laptop, it's fully updated as far as I know. will look it again later.

Thank you for your time today. will look at this topic tomorrow as I will go out for shopping.

    Regards, Chris

    Chris,
Just open the AVG User interface and click Update Now. It doesn't get much easier. Try it a few times but if it won't update after several tries, there is a strong possibility of infection.

Most recent DB is 270.10.16/1926 as of 30 seconds ago

Tried MBAM on partial and gave me the bluescreen of death. I will un-install MBAM for the time being and will load the free version.

I tried the update on our desktop and it is updating like nothing happened.

something really is fishy on my laptop.

I will conduct more test later.

It looks like that could be the problem - you need to head over to the Malware Removal forum and get some help.

I think I got infected or my laptop's ports was changed. Is reformatting will reset everything including the ports the internet's going?

I cant go to malware experts as: 1) MBAM is defective at the moment 2) ComboFix and others might fail to operate

Im going to buy an external hard drive and transfer everything from Drive C as soon as we have the money. Im going to disable this Asus F80L laptop and will use our desktop at the moment until we buy the said external hard drive

    --

I just noticed this when my: 1) AVG wont update 2) My Yahoo Messenger cant open my messenger list 3) MBAM wont update just now

Thank you for your responses and I really appreciate it.

Neither of these excuses has any validity and I won't pretend to understand the real reason why you won't start a thread in the Malware Removal Forum but you are definately infected.

I have a topic in the malware removal forum.

I think the cause of the bluescreen is a driver virus. *let me check the name*

    C:\Windows\system32\drivers\gaopdxcyjnuocp.sys
    C:\Windows\system32\gaopdxljtuturml.dll

I will search for it in google. I'm really sorry for the way I acted. I think I don't need to reformat my laptop, afterall. Thank goodness.

Thank you for your help. Now I'm waiting for ComboFix to finnish and to reset our router. But it's the laptop that's affected and we are using OpenDNS just for deviantart.com (a website where you post your drawings and others you made). This is one weird internet.

No apologies are necessary - we're all here to help and while it might not have been obvious to you, it was pretty obvious that you had been "bitten" by Malware. Follow the instructions you are getting in Malware Removal and follow them to a T. You have more issues than that which you just referenced above but you are in very good hands if you just follow instructions.

    Good Luck.
    ;)

edit: Just saw your last post in Malware Removal which was some 11 hours after I posted the above comment. You are very fortunate that Dave is the one handling your thread over there and I will once again caution you to follow directions. You haven't just been "bitten ", you have been bitten very badly and digging yourself out of this mess is going to depend on how well you listen and follow instructions. Me thinks you have a tendency to jump the gun and that is only going to work against you. Having said that, I will shut up and make no further commentary.
