Hi all. New to this forum. Facing problem similar to http://www.windowsbbs.com/hardware/77405-boot-failure-freezes-detecting-ide-drives.html

    Symptoms are same :
    - unable to enter BIOS setup
    - POST screen Detecting IDE Drives
    - and them machine freezes

Details of desk top given in my profile. It is a new machine (one month old). Probably it may not be a problem related to old battery.

    Thanks in anticipation.

I suggest you follow the instructions given in post #5 in that thread - if the first stage does not resolve the problem try a new battery despite the newness of your system .

Home built or OEM (Dell, HP, etc) ?

Thanks for guidance. Clearing CMOS using ***** driver helped. Just now posting from same desk top. It is home built by a friend.

Just out of curiosity, if there are any reviews of my system config. Thanks all.
