I am replacing a Firewire PCI Card and whilst the instructions for the new card installation make no mention of uninstalling the old card driver. The Dell user manual says this should be done, but it does not say how to do it.

Could someone please advise me how to uninstall the old card driver?

    Welcome to WindowsBBS :)

Locate the card in Device Manager - right click > Properties > Driver tab - Uninstall.

Do you mean in Device Manager where it says IEEE 1394 Bus Host Controllers and when you click the + it says OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Contoller?

Not that I know the name of the Card that came pre-installed in the Dell, but I can't see a name anywhere.

I guess that's the only reference to IEEE 1394 and is more likely to be the onboard controller chip.

I would first simply install the card physically and boot up and see if Windows detects it.

If the Found New Hardware Wizard pops up and you have a driver CD for the new card cancel out the NHW and load the driver(s) from the CD otherwise go for 'Automatically .... '
