    Hello there

Last night, i had suddenley lost my wireless connection, it was showing in available wireless networks, but just would not connect, though it was saying aquireing network address but then it just went off.

then i had to refresh the network list about six times to get it back, when i did get it back, and clicked on connect, it would do the same thing aquiring network address, then just going off.

After severel attemps, i did get the connection back, but it only lasted about 5 minites, agian i repeated what i had just done, but the connection was lost again.

Anything i could do, i am using windows xp service pack 3, and i have a bt homehub 2.0

Also, the "obtain an ip address automatically" and "obtain DNS server address automatically" radio buttons are both checked

and i also flushed the DNS cache

Thanks for any of your replys

carl101, your configuration is ok. No worries about that.

This problem could be due to interference from a nearby wifi. Try changing channel on your wifi router & see if it dissapears.

Yes i did think about that, i had given up last night, but this morning it was working fine, but i did change the channel anyway, and seems to have settled down . :)

I was also thinking that it could have something to do with being on "hibernate" or when the computer comes out from sleep mode as i have heared . :)

    Thankyou again

Disable the power management on the wireless adapter. It can really cause havoc on some adapters.

    Hello
Yes it did happen again last night, could not connect to the router, it was not even showing in wireless networks.

After trying for about an hour, it did show up, but could not connect, i clicked on repair, what came back was "could not renew ip address" so gave up again.

Now it ok this morning, i will have to phone them up, to see if its a fault.
Could you explain How to disable the power management on the wireless adapter, and i will give that a try.

    Thanks aweston.

I am on a wireless connection upstairs, on a desktop , with no available phone sockets, so if i carn't fix this problem i will have to take it all down stairs, and use a wired connection, and phone bt up
