I want to use a program that says it requires Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1, so I followed the link, downloaded it, and it won't install. When I try to run it, I get this error message: "Command line option syntax error. Type Command /? for Help." I don't know what this means. In fact, I've never heard of this program and I have no idea what it is. I don't know what I'm supposed to do. I've Googled it, but I've only found things related to Vista, and I'm using XP, and nothing with my specific error.

Does anyone know what's wrong? I'm so confused.

Go to Start, Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs. Look down the list to Microsoft and see if maybe a higher version is already installed. If not, try just downloading and saving. Then run to install when off-line.
Might also try installing while in Safe Mode.

I didn't see it in Add/Remove Programs. I had already downloaded and saved it, I wasn't running it straight from the site. I also went into Safe Mode and got the same error. :(

    Any other suggestions?

    Thanks. :)

Yes! 3.5 worked! I had tried installing 1.1 with nothing else running (even after a fresh restart), but that didn't help. I didn't know there was a version higher than 1.1. Like I said, I'd never heard of this before and I was just following what the program said to use. I guess 1.1 was current at the time. The program I needed it for works now. Thanks for the help!

And, for the record, I do have Service Pack 3.
