Whenever I click on a desktop icon that is a shortcut for a website, I get a dropdown menue for "open with ". I click on Internet Explorer, and check the box for always use this program to use selected program to open this kind of file, and then the next time I click on the desktop again, I still get the same dropdown menu. What is the problem, and does anybody and any solutions?

    Hi bikerpaul,

Please download DAFT and save it to your Desktop.

Double-click the daft.exe icon. Read the disclaimer and click okay.
Click on the Scan button then save a logfile. By default, it will save as daft.txt.
Post the contents of that file with your next post.

    Welcome to WindowsBBS :)

Which version of Internet Explorer - 6,7 or 8?

Is Internet Explorer set as your default browser?

In Windows Explorer > Tools > Folder Options > File Types what is the detail for Internet Shortcut? Second screenshot shows Advanced dialogue.

I went to the tab for resetting default Internet Explorer default settings, and everything has worked okay so far.
