Intel cuts some chip prices

    I think the article is trying to proliferate a hope that AMD is somehow competing with Intel with pricing rather than performance, to give them something to write about. At this point, I think they have little evidence of that happening in any meaningful scale.

    For DIYers like me, Intel had all but taken Core2 quads off the "to buy" list, with the release and price drop of the Core i7 920. With the advent of this price break, I actually will consider a q9650 as an alternative to a Core i7 920 for my next build. But if I can get the supporting hardware in a timely fashion, I still prefer the 920 for the technology longevity factor. But that's just me.
