Hi, I have Office 2003 on my PC running XP Pro and if I get a PC with Vista installed can I load and use my office 2003 on it,
I am not sure if it will be Vista HomeBasic or Vista Home Premium.
    Hope so
    Thanks Des.

Office 2003 will play quite nicely with Vista. Just be sure to get the latest Office Service Pack.

Hi Thanks for your prompt reply's .
Do I just install Office 2003 Professional first and then the sevice pack?.
I had to download a pack so that I could open 2007 attachments on My XP Pro PC,
    Thanks Des.

Yes, install Office 2003 from the office CD and then apply the Service Pack to it.

It does, but you'll more than likely run into the MSMAPI problem. Pretty easy fix though.

Hi, If Awston is not available , would anyone else know what MSMAPI is and the fix for it., it's just that I would like to get this sorted before too long if possible.
    Thanks Des. ( dummy ???)

Office 2003 works fine with Vista. (Aweston, it's not very nice to drop a bomb and then not answer!) Go ahead and install it. Post on the BBS if you have any problems (I don't think you will though!)

search your \windows and \program files folders for MAPI32.DLL and
MSMAPI32.DLL. Rename any files found and start Outlook again. Now
Outlook will start a setup procedure to replace the missing files. You
may need your Office2003 CD, I still had the files on disk
(\config.msi). After starting Outlook there's a message about a problem
and if Outlook should fix it. 'Yes' and the error was gone.

If you delete MAPI32.DLL you may have errors connecting to POP email.
I recommend NOT deleting any files, simply rename them to something like
MSMAPI32.OLD - this way should you ever need the file (e.g. you upgrade
to office 2007 in the future) you still have it - just pack-rat nature i
    guess.

    Actual Useful Information:
you may need to make hidden files visible for this.
the file you need to rename/remove (MSMAPI32.DLL) is located in the
    following directory:

    C:\program files\common files\system\msmapi\1033\

your program files directory may be different if you ran a custom
    installation of Vista.

    Taken from this thread.

Sorry, I've been swamped and haven't had time to come back and check on this until now.

This has nothing to do with Vista, but rather with installing Office 2003 after a version of Office 2007 (usually a trial) has been installed on Vista. See: Error message when you try to start Outlook 2003: "MAPI32.DLL is corrupt or the wrong version "

I had a terrible time with Office 2003 and compatibility with Vista. Mostly because the "contacts" did not appear properly. Still cannot get all to work properly.

Possibly service pack 3 was introduced after I purchased my laptop with Vista pre-installed.

Next computer purchase will be a MAC.

Judy you should post in "Applications" and someone will help you get it fixed. If you buy a Mac, you get a whole different set of problems, and even less free help. Good luck.

Hi All, went to mates place just now, and installed Office 2003 on his new PC with Vista Home premium,
Just removed Office 2007 ( his 60days had expired), plus searched and removed all the 2007 Office dregs,( 2007 Power Point was listed separate???.)
Then installed 2003,:) easy as, and then tested it, ( main used ones) and no probs at all.
I still down loaded the SP3 pack , but didn't see anything different.
Anyway Thanks to you all for your help.
    Regard Des.
