I know this is a policy setting - I'd googled this, but I get tons of irrelavent info about mobile devices communicating with Exchange Servers...

When IE tries to connect to an SSL-protected resource, and lets say, the hostnames don't match, you'll get one of those boxes that shows the error, and lets you a.)Continue b.)Stop or c.)View the certificate.

A friend of mine in the same line of work has PCs set up to *disable* the continue function where the user will never see the website, if there is a cert-problem. He demonstrated it to me, and I'd like to do the same.

    How is this accomplished?

Generally speaking -> IE Tools->Options->Security tab-> Restrict site section is probably what you're looking for. You can make adjustments based on the certs issue you mentioned.

When you click "Continue" on the "Close | Continue... | More Info..." error, the web browser directs you to a wierd URL, res://ieframe.dll instead of the desired website. Doing this results in the "Cannot find page" error.

there was nothing under the Security section of the Advanced Properties, under Internet Settings. I'm sure this must be a policy setting...

"Warn about Certificate mismatch" is unchecked. Also, I tried changing this value in the Group Policy, but it has no effect:

Local Computer Policy | Computer Configuration | Administrative Templates | Windows Components | Internet Explorer | "Turn off the Security Settings Check Feature "

Maybe another word with him would resolve the issue?
