Samsung vs. ASUS

I'm looking at a couple monitors to replace my 17 ". A Samsung T220 and an ASUS VH242H. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with these brands and what your thoughts are. I can read reviews until my eyes pop out and still won't know for sure.

If it helps, I do some photo and video editing. I would appreciate any thoughts you may want to offer. Thanks!

Hi Mike...I'm running dual 22" Samsung Monitors, a Samsung T220 and a Samsung 2232GW. Both monitors are great but of the 2 I like the T220 the best. One thing I do wish that the T220 had was a "Gloss" finish instead of "Matte ". My 2232GW has the "Gloss" finish and I really like it.

I've bought a total of 5 (3 Samsung & 2 ViewSonic) LCD's over the latest couple years and the T220 has been far the best.

I can't say much for the ASUS brand of LCD's as I don't have any experience with them but the reviews are 5 Eggs.

Doesn't that figure. I stopped into my local Staples a couple days ago and they were having a sale on the Samsung 2253. They had several other monitors on to compare it with, such as Dell and ASUS. They all looked really good, so I bought the Samsung. The ASUS that you mention is even cheaper then what I paid. Oh well. Thanks for the head's up though.

LOLOL...been there and know what you mean. How do you like the Samsung so far?

 

I really like it. I went from a 17" to this 21.6 ". Good thing I didn't go with a 24 ". I don't know what I would have done with all that space! It is nice to have two things going at the same time and be able to see both at once. My monitor shelf is also going to like the change. The 20+ pound difference in weight might keep the shelf happy for a while.
