Just recently the family has moved and we had to switch ISP. Wont drop names but the new service came with an install disc (which I hate using).
Anyway I noticed all this **** bogging down my task manager so I called their tech number and they said it was ok to remove them from the system.
to keep it short after removal I restarted the PC and all of my startup items no longer load. I checked msconfig and most if not all of my entries are gone except for adobe gamma. Figured I just do a restore and everything would be back to normal. well....somehow installing that disc had turned off my system restore. (something I never do)
so...is there a way to restore all the startup items that were there previously?
ie: my AV, ATI CCC, Soundcard, etc.
    any help would be appreciated

It would help if we knew what you had done but in the mean time reinstalling most software in the same location normally won't do any harm...

Best though if you can tell us exactly what you did that caused these programs not to startup in the first place and list exactly what is missing from startup that you want to restore.

All I did was use the install disc from my new ISP. before that everything everything was running smooth as butter. It was after the install of their support software (which I found out from the manufacturer allows remote access to my PC).
I had used system restore last month after a failed graphics driver install so I know it was still on at the time of the ISP disc install.
As for what is missing from my sys startup. your guess is as good as mine.
Only things I knew right off hand was my graphics utility, my AV tray icon, soundcard tray icon, my logitec LCD utility (G-15 keyboard).
I checked my msconfig and only thing in startup now is adobe gamma. went into regedit and there is no entry under LHKM.....windows/disabled startup.
I can manually search out my most used startup items and start them from their respective .exe. But i would like to know if there is any shareware or another way to look for startup items and re-enable them. Outside of msconfig

If that is the case I'd contact the ISP customer services and make a very strong complaint... After cancelling the service and looking elsewhere.

    And any other person/software.

Let's try from a different starting point.

What problems are you having, if it involves hardware (you've ID'd your keyboard but also state that graphic/sound is a problem) please list make and models. Knowing your AV software package would be usefull too ;)

    Can you list those exe's?

If you or I don't know what's missing how could software know?

I would switch ISP's but this is the only provider in this rural area.
There really is no performance issue to speak of. 'cept for the faster boot times.
SO...seeing how vague this thread is, I'll call it closed since I'm not suffering from performance issues outside of the fact my tray icons don't show up.
    But for what it's worth.
    My AV is AVG
    GPU is an ATI X700
Soundcard is SB Audigy 2 ZS gamer
I was able to located the ATI CCC.exe utility and once clicked it moves to the tray.
I was able to locate the Creative volume control.exe and once clicked it also moves to the tray.
Same thing with the AVG.exe once clicked...moves to the tray.
    So...thanx for the help.

    No problem,

For what it's worth if you reinstall those drivers and AVG then no damage will be done and they should go back to the default startup options.

I wouldn't bother with the sound/gfx though (a shortcut on the desktop or a toolbar would probably be better).

I did find a prog called "startupCPL" that allows me to add items to various startup functions so I think that will work for now.
    Thanx for your help

    Sorry Bartok,

I think this entire thread was a misunderstanding,

I thought you were looking for an automatic way to recover lost startup settings, yes StartupCPL will allow you to add startup items, just be carefull with it or you could find your computers runs at a snails pace.

    Thanks for the feedback
