I have and ADSL account with France Telecom who provide a Sagem Livebox modem which seems to need resetting quite frequently. I have acquired a Thomson Speedtouch 330 and I am wondering if I can replace one with the other. Do I just unplug one and replace with other or is it, as I suspect, far more complex than that. If so can you point me to where I can get a dummies guide to doing the job.
    TIA

These are the instructions for my ISP:
    http://bigpond.custhelp.com/cgi-bin...ay=content&p_page=1&p_faqid=5730&p_Platform=N

Since your system is already set up to log onto their network, it should just(?:)) be a matter of installing and configuring your modem.

You could probably websearch for anything you are not sure about and if you don't have the drivers or the manual for the modem get them from the manufacturer's website.

Hi Mattman, Thanks for the info. Just to get my mind in gear, do I need to remove (or disable) the original software which came with the Liovebox from my ISP?

Sorry about the double posting, my PC hung up and I didn't know that the first post had been sent.

    Mea Culpa!

Is it Sagem Livebox software or your ISP's software? If you are replacing hardware, yes, remove it's corresponding software. If it is the ISP's software you should leave it installed.

    Livebox

It all came with the subscription/ installation package so I suppose that I had better leave installed.

    Thanks.
