    Hi there,
Can anybody please advise me about the settings needed for installing an Epson CX5500 as an additional install of an Epson CX3800 printer, please? I tried this windows BBS advice when first installing my printer, and it was a complete sucess. Since then my harddrive broke and was replaced by a technician, with success, and the printer is playing up after re-installing new black ink after printing a long document....
On the phone to 2 different EPSON technicians, one advised to remove it, and the other successfully got me printing, after setting changes.
Since then I've tried some setting changes (Minor) of my own, but the new ink won't be recognised. The technician left without opening the printer, on hourly rate!
Since the initial advice worked, I'm wondering if somebody knows how to set the installed CX5500, the CX3800 and another printer driver of the CX5500, which an EPSON technician advised me to re-install the printer driver of.
I now have 3 printers on my printer dropdown, and I'm not sure if they're all set right. No urgency to print, but jobhunting means that I'd like it up and running ASAP.........

    Epson CX5500 installed as CX4300

PS: Sorry, my mistake, I've just discovered that the printer is installed as an Epson CX4300 (CX4300_55). Can anybody help please? It still won't work after harddrive re-installation.

Since they are probably very similar in hardware and software, the drivers/software for one might conflict with the other.

My suggestion would be to uninstall everything related to both and try installing them in the reverse order. If that fails, try installing the drivers and software for the "major" printer and only install the drivers for the other. You can just install drivers by running the Add Printer wizard (Printers in Control Panel) and use the Have Disk... button when you see it, or, when you connect the printer, if Windows identifies it and asks for drivers, let it search on the installation disk.

Also check at the Epson website for only the drivers, not the related software. Some printer manufacturer's offer a "complete uninstaller" at their website, I am not sure about Epson.

If you are uninstalling, check through the list in Add or Remove Programs first, then check in the Printers folder that they have been removed or right click on the printer's icon and select Delete.

    Matt
