WD external drive cannot be accessed

    hi... need help it seems i can open my WD external hard drive...


    a pop up always cames up... "perform request cannot be granted I\O device error "

    what can i do with this problem???

    Try connecting it to a different computer (if you have done so already, let us know what you have already tried).

    See if you can find another data cable to try.

    If it has any other interfaces, like Firewire, try using that.

    Go to the WD website (www.westerndigital.com/support) and get the testing utilities for your model (Lifeguard). They may be on a disk that came with the drive.

    If the problem is in the USB interface, you should be able to open the drive and remove the HDD. You might be able to connect it internally in a desktop computer (if it is a SATA or 3.5 inch IDE HDD). You could get another external enclosure to put it into (search at hardware suppliers for "enclosure ").

    The partition information may be corrupt. Lifeguard may/should tell you. It may need to have the partition removed and remade. Do you have data on it that is not backed-up?

    thanks.. i can access my WD external drive and return to its normal state process... but i can't find my folders and files...

    when i run the WDSync: "LIBEAY32.DLL could not be found in the specified path "

    how can i recover theme???

    thanks for the help..

    i run the software for the WD ext drives... and DL an LIBEAY32.dll

    it solve the problem... ^_^
