    I have removed all software relating to LG DVD WRITER but still find an entry in the Add Remove section.
    I am unable to delete this from the Add Remove panel.

    I have followed posted instructions in removing this entry from the Registry but it still remains as an unmovable issue in the Add Remove section even after reboot.

    I reinstalled the registry entry and uninstalled it again....same results.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{6811CAA0-BF12-11D4-9EA1-0050BAE317E1}

    Can anyone please explain how this program could be "LURKING AROUND" as it was also manually removed from the registry.

    Roy66. Just for future reference if you ever have a progam that you can't delete from the add/remove program list then you can downlaod and run the windows installer cleaner up utility instead of going into the registry. http://majorgeeks.com/Windows_Installer_CleanUp_Utility_d4459.html. Upon running it you can find the program in the list and hit remove which will remove the program from the add/remove programs list in the control panel.

    I know you issue is resolved but their is a much easier way to remove entries in the add/remove programs list using the windows installer cleanup utility. :)

    Simple... the entry of the program wasn't removed from the registry key that lists the Add/Remove entries.

    Hi Roy,

    I don't think Arie was suggesting the solution was simple, only that the cause was.

    When you install a program certain keys are stored in the registry, if the program is uninstalled incorrectly or the correct procedure failed during the uninstall it's likely that those registry keys would remain. It's not a serious problem but agreed it is an annoyance. Why keep so much system critical information all in one location is anyone's guess. ;)
