Recently 2 new options appeared while I was doing a disc cleanup. They are.....

    Debug Dump Files.....392,784 k
    Set Up Log Files......3,256 kb

I was wondering what these were. They first showed up about a month ago and do not show up every time.

    XP Service Pack 2

    Welcome to WindowsBBS :)

Debug Dump Files - memory dumps following BSOD's or program crashes.

Set Up Log Files - self explanatory really - some programs write a setup log during installation. All Windows updates create an installation log too.

    Thanks for the response Pete.

So I'm assuming I can safely tick these next time I do a disc cleanup........?

    Yes you can.

In fact use ATFCleaner and/or CCleaner for more thorough cleaning.

Thanks to everyone for the info.
I must admit I have been reluctant to install SP3 after reading on several different sites that there have been problems. Have these issues been resolved? What would be the benefits,if any, besides the security issues?
I know that security alone is enough of a reason, but my system is working so well right now that I am worried about having any more major issues.......
