    Dear all,

    I need to install a sofware only operational on windows XP.
    I have Vista pre-installed on my laptop;
    I got from the net few articles about how to install XP on my Vista machine.

    Those articles allow dual boot but what I want is to be able to switch between versions without the need to restart.

    Please advise.

    Thank you

    Yes, Microsoft's free VPC (or any of the other alternative Virtual Machine software) would be the way you have to go if you don't want to restart (i.e. running one OS inside the other).

    Hi,

    Once I have installed Windows XP under VPC, would I be able to install and run any application on XP?

    The puropse is that I need to install an application that runs only under XP.

    Yes. A Virtual machine is a complete logical machine with OS, program etc. If you install a program in XP, that would be installed only in XP.
