On my Son's computer, when he plays car games if he uses up and down arrows to go forward and back, the screen goes up and down as well. I have tried a different keyboard with no difference. I tried the same game on a different computer and that was ok. Any ideas?

When pressing Up/Down is it possible you're also pressing ctrl or alt.

Can you post details of the computer manufacturer and model?

To identify your motherboard please download CPU-Z and save it to your Desktop. Unzip and run cpuz.exe.

Select the Mainboard tab and post the details that are in the Manufacturer and Model fields.

Hi, No way it can be caused by pressing ctrl or alt as it happens only on one computer. Mine and my daughters computer work fine, it's just my son's. Not sure what part of his computer you want to know but his CPU is an AMD Athlon XP2500+ and the main board is an nVidia-nForce with an nForce2 Ultra 400 chip. Hope this helps. Would be great if someone could come up with a clue.

Some graphics drivers/utilities come with the ability to adjust the screen this way, just because it doesn't happen with other computers probably with different graphic drivers doesn't mean it's not the cause here.

Ok, a little more information, can you install and run SIW for me and on the left hand side scroll down until you see Hardware. Further down you'll see Video, highlight that and tell me exatly what is listed next to:

    Display Adapter
    Display Drivers
    Driver Version
    Driver Date

Display Adapter NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200
    Display Drivers nv4_disp.dll
    Driver Version 6.14.10.5214
    Driver Date 2003-09-24 11:32:00

Hope this is of help. As far as pressing Alt or ctrl I know they are not being
pressed as I tried the games myself and same thing happened.

Sorry Wayne, I'd forgotten about this. Thanks for the bump.

Your graphics drivers are outdated, please update and check again.

I also agree its possible that the dispaly driver is set to show a larger desktop area than the actual desktop size. This gives the "scroll" effect as if you are zoomed in on a certain portion of the screen.

First thing I'd try is goto www.nvidia.com and download the latest driver for your FX5200. The site is pretty easy to use, you will see a little wizard allowing you to select your video card model and it will give u the correct driver. The newer drivers should reset all the settings to default and possibly fix this.

    Hi Guys,

It's been a while as I have been on holidays but I finally downloaded the latest driver for the graphics card but it didn't fix the problem.

As my last post is over 30 days old, I can't add the info to this msg but just a reminder that if playing a car game and need to use the up arrow to go forward or the down arrow to go back then the screen goes up and down as well.

    Any other ideas?

Are you using a standard 4:3 monitor or a widescreen and at what resolution?

Hmm - that scuppers my thoughts about windows designed for 4:3 ratio screens not displaying fully on widescreen.
