its basically a hiccup every 7 or 8 seconds

    Things I've tried/noticed:

    RTCW SP works fine

Other people on my network playing ET do not have the same problem

It happens on all servers (including non-pb servers)

    I've tried several wireless cards.

    tried deactivating DMZ

    tried disabling all port forwards.

tried anti-virus/anti-spyware scan (AVG and Spybot S&D)

tried formatting my whole hard drive

    Still no luck...

I moved my PC to the basement where the router is, and am still having the problem. I attached an ethernet cable to the onboard ethernet and router and can't seem to be able to make the wireless connection stop. Suggestions?

Also, does anybody know any free/trail software that has an active streaming latency test like the one built into the game engine?

    Router: Linksys WRT54G
    Manufacturer: Dell Inc.
    Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 2.80GHz (2 CPUs)

    Hard Drive: 244 GB
Video Card: ATI Radeon HD 3450
    Monitor: 19" Flatpanel LCD
    Sound Card: SB Live! 24-bit
    Speakers/Headphones: Logitec Headset
    Keyboard: Razer Lycosa
    Mouse: Razer Deathadder
Operating System: Windows XP Pro (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp_sp2_qfe.070227-2300)

I've never played an online game :). They depend on a fast internet connection and I can get by without paying for extra speed.

    Found these:
    http://www.bigfootnetworks.com/PDFs/White_Paper_on_Lag_final.pdf
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lag
    http://www.endlagnow.org/eln/TakeAction_LagMeter.aspx

    Test your internet speed:
    http://search.yahoo.com/search;_ylt...ternet connection speed&fr=sfp&ei=UTF-8&rd=r1
and ask your friends to give you a readout of theirs.

Look up the System Requirements for the game. If any of your system specs don't easily cover the (recommended) requirements, look at improving those. Have you installed the drivers that came with the computer and checked at Dell for updates?

Since we concentrate on Windows, you might be best off asking at a gaming forum. I know this one:
    http://forums.gamezone.com/index.php?board=7.0
They may be able to spot the problem faster than we can. If they have suggestions that we could help you with, certainly ask.

    Matt

Have you checked your event log for event id 6226 "max tcp/ip concurrent connections "?

9/10 times thats where the problem lies with online gaming.
