When I try to open a link, the pointing finger freezes the computer. I have to use Ctr-Alt-Delete to end task. Then when I try again it usually opens the link.
This happens most of the time in either email, newsletters and in browsers.
I've called Compaq support and the best I can get in the way of help is to use the dreaded Quick Restore. ( I rather put up with the finger)

Has anyone ever experienced this delemma?

    Hi carval
Can you give us a few system specs? What O/S? After you do a fresh boot, do a ctrl/alt/del and list for us what you have in the close programs dialogue box?

Thank you for your quick reply Daizy!
I was delayed answering because of that finger thing again.
Plus I rebooted to follow your instruction.

Here is what I found on the Ctr-Alt-Delete menu:

    Explorer
    Hpostart
    Hpojvdix
    Msmsgs
    Systray
    Hpomlch
    Rnaapp

    I'm using IE 6.0

I try to keep up with all the updates. I do scan disk and defrag regularly.

    I have a Compaq Presario 5700T
Pentium lll 128MB RAM 13 GB Hard Drive
    56K Modem...

    Purchased Sept. 1999

That's all I can think of.

    You could try
this. Or Click Start , and then click Run. Type "regsvr32 urlmon.dll" (without the quotes).

    Daizy,

You are a WEALTH of information.
I tried the easiest of your instruction first. The "RUN - regsvr32 urlmon.dll
Then I went to one of my emails with a link and it opened first time.

    So far so good!

    I love GEEKS!

    Thank you! :D
