    Hi!

    Hope u solve my problem.

I have a Compaq Presario V3749AU notebook with AMD Turion dual core 2.1 Ghz processor and 2 GB RAM. I am running Vista Home Basic. In addition to it I also have a 64 MB integrated graphics card. All my drivers are up-to-date.

My problem is that I am unable to run even low performance requirement games like

Cricket 2007 which requires 1GHz processor + 256 MB RAM

and even running the game at the lowest possible performance settings like 640*480 16-bit display, I still experience the performance lag. Initially when starting Windows afresh, it may work fine for a while but soon the motions get slow and dragged.

The same game when played on my desktop PC (7 years old) with Intel 1.7 GHz processor + 256 MB RAM and running Windows XP works perfectly all right.

I purchased it recently in June 08 and have tried all sorts of things like 1.completely resetting up my laptop
    2.defragmenting my disks,etc.

    but to no avail.

I could not attempt degrading it to XP because HP does not has drivers for XP for my laptop. (I didn't know this before otherwise I certainly wouldn't have bought it).

    Anyways help!

In short - your older XP machine probably has a better video card.

Have you turned off all the eye candy in Vista like the SideBar and setting it to Classic mode?

Yes, I have turned off my sidebar and also turned it to Windows Classic.

Also my older PC is a single core 1.7 Ghz with no additional graphics card.

But I am still experiencing the same problem

You could try finding the executable (.exe) for the game, right-clicking on it and selecting "Run as administrator ". Look at running it in compatibility mode (Win XP?).

It may require DirectX 9.0c. I was told 9.0c could be installed along side version 10 in Vista, although I have not tested it. If you type dxdiag in the Start line, it will give you some information about your multimedia hardware and drivers.

www.pcpitstop.com might be able to give you some checks.
