I am away from home and using a comcast cable connection but cannot send email. I can receive email and can use web mail but prefer to use outlook express 6. Seems it has something to do with using different server than one I use for my roadrunner.com. I even tried changing the smtp to comcast.net but still n/w. Any idea if there is a way around this?

I think you're stuck with webmail - you can only send from your ISP and you are logged on to another.

    Did you use:

    Outgoing mail (SMTP): smtp.comcast.net

yes, tried that. Have given up since both roadrunner and comcast have no solution.

found this on google. Perhaps it's something I might try but how do you :
undo the SSL and authentication settings on the outgoing mail settings.
You can use your ISP's SMTP server, for outgoing mail, instead of smtp.umn.edu.

When you change the outgoing mail server to something other than smtp.umn.edu, be sure to undo the SSL and authentication settings on the outgoing mail settings.
If you use an SMTP server other than smtp.umn.edu , you do not need to configure it for authentication or SSL to meet the University's SSL requirement.
If you want to continue using the SSL and authentication security settings, you can use authenication and SSL on your ISP's SMTP server. Please contact your ISP for information on how to set this up.
Please note, you will still need to have your incoming mail settings configured for SSL

smtp.umn.edu -> looks like a college campus ISP??

Look in the account settings to undo the SSL setting.

Just make note of any changes so you can undo em..

The college SMTP setting would only help if the pc was located within the campus ISP's area.
