OK, thanks Pete! I will start off by installing SP2 first (wonder if have to be connected to the internet during this?) - off of my usb stick, and then progressing to SP3 later on. Perhaps even using the SP3 download link provided here, and almost never having to use Windows Update! :p
    Nice and simple, right?

In regards to your last paragraph Pete, looks like I'll have to do some research on backing up my system or hard drive. Seems a little daunting the way you described, but I do have some software called Tech-In-A-Box on my computer that has a backup feature as well. I might give that a shot.

This should be it, now onto the Security threads for some advice on which firewall, antivirus, and spyware programs that won't bog down my PC's newly found speed! :D

When you have installed SP2 go to Windows Update and select Custom rather than Express. You will be offered SP3 which you may decline and go for the other updates not included in your downloaded version.
I sugest you read my article on HelpWithWindows .....

Well, I was just thinking on installing SP3 in the near future because I believe you guys stated that SP3 was a rollup of updates and patches after SP2. Keeping it simple and up to date. Unless I NEED to download updates for SP2 before SP3(?). Oh, and I was taking a look at your article beforehand and it's surely a wealth of knowledge. I might still take a gander at the other threads though ;)
