service pack 2 problems

    Hi
    today I installed xp service pack 2. It totally messed up my computer (picasa 3 is corrupted, can't turn off , stand by or hibernate computer, computer is crawling). anyway i tried 3 times to uninstall service pack 2 using control panel, restore point. no luck. I don't have an xpcd, any suggestions?

    BTW, welcome to the BBS,

    Look for updated driver's at the system manufacturer's website. Consider uninstalling Picassa, then reinstalling it after going to SP2 (and check for an updated version).

    one step at atime. it took me years to install sp2. however, the way it trashed my computer i'll do without either one

    thanks for the information. at this point i'm considering recovering the computer it's sooo trashed. can't even shut it off

    No offence notded but perhaps the problems you are having is due to leaving the updates too late rather than the actual updates themselves?

    I'm not saying this is the case but certainly it's something you shoud be considering.

    If your computer is infected with *any* malware and you try to install SP2 you will definitely have problems.

    Did you have your antivirus software turned off while installing SP2? If not, temporarily turn off your AV program and try installing SP2 again.
