I have an HP a350n running windows Xp home. Last night when I turned it on I noticed my keyboard and mouse were not responding so I could not choose user or do much. I tried reinstalling windows by running a boot cd and still no way of using keyboard or mouse. I am using my second desktop to get on line. I suspect a bad MB.
Does anybody know or heard of this kind of problems?
    Please let me know.
    Thanks a lot. Mario J.

usb both, keyboard and mouse. tried the no-usb and same problem.

    Hi Mario,

I'm assuming your keyboard/mouse are USB rather than PS/2. If so can you borrow a PS/2 keyboard, it's likely your BIOS needs reset (a new BIOS battery may also be required).

Once you have a PS/2 keyboard enter BIOS and look for "enable legacy support" or similar.

Right now though relax because a motherboard fault would be the last thing on my list.

Thank you very much for your advice. I will replace the battery and reset bios as adviced.

    No problem, happy to help.

One further piece of advice, keep a spare PS/2 keyboard because this may well happen again.
