    I recently restored a laptop with recovery CDs, and almost immediately, Microsoft started pushing Updates. Within 3 days, I must have downloaded about 70 of them, including Service Pack 1, and a few for the on board hardware like NVidia and Conexant video and audio devices.
    I just reviewed the installation history, and two of the 70 installations show as Failed. On is a Cumulative Update for the Media center(KB955519), recommended, with a failure code 80080005. The other one is a Update for Windows Vista(KB937287), Important, Error code 800F0825.
    Each update has a details page that has several links offering help. The most promising is the more info link that takes you to Microsoft's site, specifically to the involved update.
    I wonder if I can just manually download the failed updates and attempt a reinstall. Some updates are prerequisites for others, some cannot be uninstalled.
    I hesitate to just go ahead without help here, because I'm not sure that the updates were installed in their proper order, or if that is even important. I do recall installing the first few. When I rebooted, at one point it said 51 more updates available, so I just went ahead. Over the next few days, they kept coming. They are all successfully installed except the above mentioned 2.
    Thanks.

    Hi skaler2k...

    I have in the past have manually installed failed "updates" for both WinXP and Vista. I just checked my Vista Ultimate Laptop and according to my "Update History" I have both the KB937287 (on Feb 15, 2008) and the KB955519 (on Oct 25, 2008) successfully installed. I would manually install them one at a time but I would however create a restore point before each separate install.

    I also did some "Googling" and there have been issues with both the KB955519 and KB937287 patches.
    - KB955519 "Recording" issues after installing patch => Google Links
    - KB937287 issues => Google Links
