I recently received an e-mail attached pic which, when I tried to save, showed the following msg: "File MSHTML.HLP cannot be found ". Well, I guess the reason for that is is because it doesn't exist! I searched my HD in vain.

What's up with this? Anyone know?

The picture most likely wasn't 'attached' but embedded in the email. AFAIK you are out of luck with IE7 (or above) installed.

Microsoft isn't interested in supporting their free email clients :(

Thanks Arie. I just received a couple of attachments (pix) and they copied to My Pictures without incident. You were probably right about the previous attachment being 'embedded'.

What's wrong with IE7 or is that a dumb question?

It's not really IE, but rather a 'disconnect' between the teams developing the email client & browser.

OE checks for MSHTML.HLP, which is no longer present in > IE7.
