    Hi,

Until about a month ago my internet and wifi connection worked fine. Then several things changed and I haven't been able to maintain a connection to the internet for more than three days at a time, sometimes it will last for only a few hours.

Here's what changed (I don't know what is causing the problem):

    1) I got a new tv and hooked it up to cable by using a splitter from a cable in another room and a 100' coaxial cord.

    2) My family got an upgraded cable package and dvr

    3) I got a new wireless internet router, a Linksys WRT150N version 1.1

The router is connected to an RCA cable router that my dad got when he signed up for Comcast high-speed internet maybe five years ago. And there is a direct connection going from the wireless router to a desktop with a Pentium 4 that is at least as old.

Usually the connection will be fixed by power cycling the cable router, the wireless router, or both. Other times I will have to go to the Control Panel and I'll find that the internet connection has been disabled or that either my local area connection or my network bridge has switched itself to a static IP address rather than a dynamic one.

I really don't know what is causing these problems or if it is a problem with the cable router, the wireless router, or something caused by the old computer. Any help would be appreciated.

My father uses AOL to connect to the internet and believes that he is using dialup even though he has a cable modem, could that be in any way related?

    Thanks

is your wireless connection locked or password protected ? If not, check to see if your connection is not open for ALL....Someone close by your house is stealing your connection..

Network Bridge for what? There's no need to bridge any adapters/connections. Disable any bridges.
