I want to creat Self Extracting Zip file using WinZip 12 self extractor. I need to know how to set the install directory to use the current user profile.

Here is example: Install path below!

    Vista- C:\Users\CURRENT USER\AppData\Local\Activision

    XP- (XP)C:\Documents and Settings\CURRENT USER\Local Settings\Application Data\Activision

I need to change the command that is BOLD and RED so that it uses the current user and installs the file to their directory, for any user that extracts the files after downloading it.

I wish i could find a link to these commands but have not yet so far. I would need the command for Vista and XP or a universeral Command for using WinZip self extractor.

    Thank you for any help.

    Jake

Thanks Bilb0 but WinZip does not allow this to work in the extract to path. I guess to use WinZip you have to use a .bat file to accomplish this.

I guess for making self extracting exe files and using the \%USERPROFILE%\ or \%current user%\ command in the path to the extracting folder. This will not work Using WinZip.

I have to use WinRar, using SFX "convert archieves to selfextracting exe "

So the command line i used is this to make it work.

If I use the Vista path %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Activision\CoDWaW\mods\ it will not work on XP but will work on Vista.

If I use the XP path %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Activision\CoDWaW\mods\ it works on Both XP and Vista. <<<< WINRAR ONLY >>>>

I have tested on XP and Vista…..and works so far. No need for the Drive letter for C: Drive to be included!
