Sorry about that, it's kinda busy around here (lucky I'm an insomniac).

Anyway, after your last post I'm guessing your friend had an addon graphics card which he/she removed therefor left the system unstable.

Can you go to device manager and uninstall all graphic adapters? I'll help you through it if you don't know how but...

Before you do, take a look at the back of the system and tell me how many graphic adapters are there, again if you're not sure let me know and I'll give pointers.

 

well the computer actually used to be my moms and i know she never messed with it but unfortunately i kept getting a warning that windows explorer was having trouble and needs to shut down i ignored it about 5 times and finally restarted it and its back to its old self again with the black screen no matter how i start it???? but when i could access windows everything was there but was not working right??? Now im really un sure what this things problem is.

 

Restart using VGA mode as you did before, then go to

display settings -> right click anywhere at an empty space on the desktop and select properties, then select the settings tab...

Slide the screen resolution to 800x600 and select 16bit colour (or color) quality in the combo box on the right.

Now try a normal restart and let me know how you get on.

 

well actually right after i sent you my last message i was able to log on using vga and i have gotten everything back to normal i was able to play cds and dvds like normal but i keep getting windows balloons saying there is spyware adware and malicious trojans and i hooked my dsl up to it and it will let me google search and get results but it will not let me navigate to web pages telling me there is a serious virus threat. It gives me the option to proceed but warns not to.
