    Here's what I found:
11 CDRom errors - today Computer did not restart

3 SiseBySide errors - yesterday Computer restarted

3 SideBySide errors 3 days ago Computer restarted
Two more grps of 3 error messages (SideBySide) on the same date - not sure what to think about this as computer did not restart. It seems to restart when the error occurs at approx 3a.m.

It's more random Steve. I have auto updates off, so I can manage them. I think this was a problem previously though. I shut it off last wk, and the problem still occurs.

BilbO, The manager shut down by itself last night before I went to bed. Don't know why.
Is a clean boot where I turn it on and not open any windows?

I did a test run of ProcMon and I think it might work out after all.
It took about 1 half hour to fill up a 284MB file and it started recording another one for about another half hour.
when it started the third, it erased the first and ran again for about a half hour and when it started the fourth, it erased the second.

So it looks like you should be able to retain about the last 30 to 60 minutes of what ever the system does before it resets.

Make the settings changes I described in the earlier post, and then start ProcMon right before you go to bed.

a bad CD that cause errors while reading it, usually is dirty or scratched

as it`s pretty inexpensive just use CDs that are in good shape :)

a CD cleaner might be useful ... and costs about 1-3E ...

but the restart i doubt that are related to the CD :)

no more idea about it :(
