Trying to do system restore on a D2685 Emachine,(Manu. by Gateway)
512 Meg, 80 gig HD, Intel Celeron, Win XP
No OS disks, only the Restore disks that came with the computer (3 of them).
Run the disks. It says it installs the files. The "Windows" music plays and you enter time zone, country, etc. IT then says enter a name for your computer.
With name entered, if you click next, both the Next and Skip fade out; that is as far as it goes. Same if you click skip.

Command prompt (option 2) gets and A: drive and you can get R: drive, says C: is invalid.

Will be glad just to get it to original factory setting like when it was purchased.

    Thanks

Did this have a C: and D: drive before you started ? D: drive should be Recovery...
you should be able to just do a full recovery from D; drive...
