font color in IE

    Helping a friend with her computer.

    Windows XP Home Edition
    Internet Explorer 7

    When she types information on a web page such as user name and password, the font is so light it's almost impossible to read it. I have tried several steps to correct this in both Display/Appearance and
    Internet Options/General/Appearance/Colors
    but have not been able to change this. Please help.

    Is she using some weird Windows theme?
    Does it happen on all sites or just sites where they use weird colors?

    She's not using any theme and it happens on all web pages as far as I can tell.
