OOPS. The title of this thread is messed up. I meant to say sending a file from my PC's file system

I am using XP Home SP3 and Outlook Express 6. Firefox 3.0.4 is my browser.

When I attempt to send a file (for example, direct from "My Pictures" folder using "Files and Folders Tasks "), Internet Explorer loads, and the file is sent via Windows Live/mail. Outlook express and Firefox are my default email and browser programs and both are open when I do this.

Why doesn't the system use Outlook Express to send the file? And how do I make it do that?

    Thank you in advance.

    Welcome to WindowsBBS :)

In Internet Explorer go Tools > Internet Options > Programs tab - Email and ensure OE is selected.

The only option that shows in
Internet Explorer>tools>programs under email is "Windows Live Hotmail" and I cannot overwrite it.

Although I use neither Windows Mail or Hotmail I suspect that recent developments re. Live Mail have forced it upon you.

I am running IE 8 and have the option to use Outlook (installed), Outlook Express (my default) or Windows Live Mail (to which I do not subscribe).

Regrettably I cannot help you beyond what I posted - and that is clearly not an option in your case. Hopefull someone more familiar with Windows Live Hotmail will chip in here.
