so, i was having some random issues with my computer, running xp prof., home built computer from a small local computer store, so nothing has really been compatible on this thing. Anyways...right now i'm getting the ikernel.exe problem when i go to install my finepix viewer program or any program really. right now i can get it to install the finepix viewer but it won't install the usb drivers. another random (could be related or unrelated) problem is the windows search function also does not work. Any help at all would be a godsend.
    thanks,
Neil hemmingsen, new to the boards.

If you didn't have these problems before installing SP3, I suggest you remove SP3. You can find it listed in Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs.

the reason i installed the service pack was because windows media videos wouldn't work consistantly from website links, and i need to get those videos everyday as part of my job. So, does anyone know why now that i've installed service pack, i now get the ikernel32.exe message, access denied. if i have to take it out, i will, but i will still need to figure out how to get those videos working.

    You need a space:

    expand c:\i386\Stdole.tl_[space]c:\Windows\system32\Stdole.tlb

    expand c:\i386\Stdole.tl_ c:\Windows\system32\Stdole.tlb
