Whenever I click on a hyperlink, instead of a new page opening, I get a new taskbar, which I have to maximize to see the page. What can I do to restore it to the old way.
    Thanks, Scootr

scootr--I do not think I understand the problem.

If you mean that the hyperlink opens a window which is very small and/or narrow, try resizing that window by putting the cursor at any edge of the window, and when you see a double-headed arrow, drag the window edges to the size you want. (The corrugated area at the bottom right corner allow you to drag two dimensions at once.) When you are through with that expanded window, there are two schools of thought. One says to just close it normally, and the next time you open a window it will remember the size of the newly expanded window. The other says to simultaneously hold down the Control button when you close the window to have the window remember its new size. You can try both.
Now if that is not the problem,

How are you opening the hyperlink? Right click| "open new window" or just left click? (In the latter case you are not "opening a new window" which means running a second instance of IE, but just replacing the old window with a new window. )
The taskbar is what is at the very bottom of the screen (and includes the Start button and the clock). What is it you are maximizing? The taskbar usually is a constant and does not "change" size or appearance regardless of how you click on a hyperlink or open a new webpage/program, except to add a button in the middle to show the new page is open and has been added to the applications and windows which are already open.
How are you maximizing whatever it is that you are maximizing?
Can you send a screen shot of the problem "taskbar "? (See vB code just underneath the "Your Reply" window for instructions.)

I'm sorry the correct word I should have used instead of taskbar is active title bar. That's all you see at the top, not a small window. I know how to make things larger and to maximize. THe title bar has the - the square and the x at the right and I have to hit the square.
I'm trying to remember how to do the screen shot for you.
It's not listed under the VB code. Can you help me?
    Thanks,
    Scootr

I had the same problem. Turns out IE "remembers" the size (or lack thereof) of the last "child" window opened...including if it was "rolled up" when you closed it.

Try this....Open IE. Open a link in a new window, maximize or stretch that second window to the size you want. Close the first IE window. Close the second. Now when you open IE again, links will open new windows in the size you set.

scootr--So, you have nothing below the title bar of the New Window? No Menubar saying File, Edit, View, etc? No Toolbar saying Back, Forward, Stop, etc? No Address bar? But you do have these other bars in the original window?
If yes to all, I think your problem may still be that the new window is there but you have to drag the window open. Move your mouse under the bottom edge of the title bar. Can you get a double arrow? If so, drag it down. I think you will first create the other toolbars, and then finally the window with the new site.
If no success then, please answer the question I asked about how you open the hyperlink, and here is one more.
Do you get the other bars when you click the Maximize button?
Someone else had a problem with nothing under the title bar, but since you can eventually open the window by maximizing it, I do not feel this is applicable to you. However here is that thread
    http://www.windowsbbs.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=8871
And, on second reading of the rules of this board, I do not think you can post an image. It says how to do it in the place I pointed you to (vB code), but then when you get to the section on how to do it, you have to use img code, and img is turned off on this board. (I'll have to try it some time.!)

Yes it is all there when I maximize it. I just want it back to the way it was when a new window would open. Some that click on hyperlinks don't even see the title bar, and it's just a little frustrating. Thanks again,
    Shelley

scootr--Well, have you tried the resizing techniques described by Miz and me?

    Miz and Welsh

Yes I did try all the techniques you mentioned. It's not too hard to deal with it's just a little bit of a pain, so I wish I could get a new IE page to open whole not just the title bar. Oh well, guess this is one I'm stuck with.
    THanks Guys.

A little trick that has worked for me after resizing it is to Maximize it, then Restore to the previous size.

I have had two Private Messages saying you can post a screen shot here. So I am going to try using the instructions under Forum Rules|vBCode.
    Method 1
    [IMG]

    Method 2
    [IMG]

Did not think it would allow the image. But it does allow posting what looks like an active link. However I see it does not work. Strange, because when I cut and paste, it works.

    Will try one other idea.

    hmmm

Don't know what happened, but now it works right. I tried everything everyone told me and maybe it was rebooted and saved the change. Don't really know exactly what fixed it, but when I got the email with Welshjim's link to the reply, and walla, it opened up without the title bar only. Oh well.
Thanks Guys for all your help. I love this place...

I had the same problem. Just now I followed Mr. Miz's method and solved it. Please note: don't use maximize button to maximize the second window, just stretch that second window to the size you want, then close the first IE window. Close the second.
