Klez virus and the holiday weekend!!!

All last week I was getting 1 -2 hits of the Klez virus a day through e-mail. During the Labour Day weekend, got no hits.
Today (Tuesday, Sept. 3) got two hits. Looks like there are still a lot of computers out there still infected, as it seems when everyone went back to work, came home from holiday and back to school the virus started doing it's thing again.

Anyone else notice this!!!

Unfortunately, the computers that are infected most likely belong to clueless people - newbies or appliance users - whose security awareness is minimal to non-existent. It's almost certain that they have no idea that their machines are infected, since like all worms Klez.h is not gracious enough to inform the owners when it does its naughty deeds such as defeating the anti-virus programs on the machine and emailing itself to everyone in the address book.

If you go into the email headers, you can usually find the source machine, which is almost never the person in the From field. Once traced, email the person that if it isn't TCO pronto, you'll go to their place and perform service with a five-pound ballpeen hammer.

Since the long weekend I think I had about one or two more Klez hits and a Hybris worm hits right after my first post (all cut off at the pass by Norton AV. e-mail scan). Since then, nothing, even was away for 5 days and nothing when I came back. I have looked in the headers and usually find several e-mail addy's. I agree, the ball-peen hammer trick is tempting, but most addresses are probably 8-10 hours drive from here.
