    Vista 64bit sys, sp1.

OK, Now what did i do?
The taskbar is showing the word "Desktop" and showing my user name.
When i slide it to the left, it also shows Public, Computer, network, IE, control panel and recycle bit.

Plus the "Run as Administrator is missing from the Start button programs.

How do i get the normal(?) taskbar back and the run as admin??
I knew there would be a learning curve but this!!!!!

    help needed!
    thanks,
    savagcl

PS: Beginning to think i'm getting to old to learn. :)

Right click on an empty space on the Taskbar, go to Toolbars and in the menu that opens, click on "Desktop" to uncheck it. See if that gets rid of the Taskbar problem.

    savagcl,

I know vista looks a lot different and in a lot of ways it is, but the procedure Miz described would be exactly the same on XP.

Perhaps, if you encounter a problem trying to clear your mind and think "How would I do this with XP?" would give you a better Vista experience. I am not suggesting you don't come here for assistance, I'm only trying to prevent a case of post traumatic stress ;)

    Wildfire,

post traumatic stress - :) If i can get through a year in Vietnam, I can get through Vista! :) :) :)

Seriously tho - good advice. I'll remember that.
This site has helped me so much in the past, present and future, it was well worth the
    lifetime membership.

Now, if it could provide a solution for grey hair (or hair pulled out) I would be most
    extremely gratefull.

    Thanks, Wildfire,
    savagcl
