    G'Day All,
I'm wondering if you can help with a problem I'm having in deploying proxy settings to users. Here is the scenario:

Windows Server 2003 Domain - XP SP2 Clients

Group Policy 1 - Sets proxy settings at Domain Level for most users
Group Policy 2 - Sets different proxy settings at OU Level. This GP will only apply if you are a member of a certain Global Group. The GP has been enforced at OU Level

The problem I'm having is that the users in the OU are not picking up the new proxy settings. HOWEVER....when you logon to the workstation as an administrator the new proxy settings are applied (as I'm a member of the Group). Then when the user logs on again they have picked up the new proxy settings.

I don't think the problem is GP based??? Obviously there is an issue here with permissions but I'm damned if I can work out where it's going pear shaped.

Any suggestions would be very welcome.

    Thanks in advance.

    Fixed

For those of you wondering the outcome of this I finally got it fixed by changing the Security Filtering on the GPO back to the default setting of Domain Admins and Authenticated Users. By removing the designated global groups, the GPO is now applying itself as advertised.

In short, it's now working but I'm not sure why. If anyone could cast any light onto this I'd appreciate it but for now I'll take a win.

    Thanks

    Oz :)

Thank you for posting back your solution.

Users will need permissions such that they can read the group policy before they can apply it. I can only assume that your previous configuration set the privileges such that it limited the users access to the group policy.

    Glad you got it fixed.
