    Vista 64bit, sp1.

I have the "remember passwords" located in the toolbar and click it
    just before entering the userid/password.

I get the small window about autocomplete, forms, etc and its says it will
offer to remember passwords but it never does offer.

Under Tools\options\security the remember passwords box is checked.

    What am i missing?

    thanks,
    savagcl

Check in Tools->Options... Then click the security tab.

Is "Remember passwords for sites" ticked?
Are there any sites shown when pressing the "Exceptions..." Button?
Is "Use a master password" ticked?

Without giving out personal info are the expected website/usernames listed when you click the "Remembered Passwords..." button?

    "Remember passwords" is ticked.
There is nothing showing under "Exceptions ".
    "Master password" is not ticked.

    Nothing is listed.

For example; I go to WindowsBBS - before i log in, i click the toolbar "remember password ". then i enter userid/password. I have tried it both with and without ticking the "Remember me" within the page.

    thanks for the help,
    savagcl

Check:Options|Privacy|Private Data|Settings. If Saved Passwords is checked, you will lose them.

My next step would be to create a new profile.

If this fails, perhaps uninstalling and reinstalling would work.

    Hi Ramona,

Nope, not yet but havent tried the uninstall/reinstall yet either.

Still trying to figure out vista.
vista first impression: kinda like a bucket of water and your looking 1 specific drop. :)
Because the mouse is flickering and several other unknowns all going on at the same
time its a pretty steep learning curve.

will post back after the re-install unless you have any ideas i havent tried yet.....

Good to see your still watching the forum...

    clif,

There was a password bug in Firefox 3.0.2 & 3.0.3. If you did a clean install of 3.0.4, then that probably isn't your problem.

However, if you did an online update, then I would suggest uninstalling 3.0.4, download the full install, and see if your passwords work.

It's still there but hidden I believe.

Try opening any folder and in the address bar Type %APPDATA% Firefox stuff will be in the Mozilla folder.

If that doesn't work I'm sure Ramona will come along to assist

    Wildfire, Ramona,

The reinstall did it. Managed to import bookmarks and addons too. So I
guess everything is good now. It even saves passwords.

    Thanks a big bunch,
    savagcl

Just so you know, the "remember me" has nothing at all to do with FF or IE password settings. The forum login name and password are stored in 2 cookies on your comp if you put a check in "remember me ". The password in the cookie is encrypted, probably a md5 hash. FF passwords settings don't affect that - but FF cookie settings do.

Browser password settings are for sites that don't store passwords in cookies.
