Hi, secunia psi sez I should update to adobe reader 9. Downloads from both filehippo & adobe both crashed on install startup ( "send a msg to MS" window). I tried install on F8 plain & network, same prob. Is this an issue with this version of reader? Is there something else I should try to get this install to work (I haven't run cclean.exe yet)? This is on wXPproSP3. thanks.

I don't know why people want to install that Adobe bloatware (33.5MB) for a reader. Foxit Reader is only 3.68 MB (or 3.40 MB for the .msi)

Thanks, PeteC. Saved your 1st link msg. & will try when time. Thought of uninstalling reader8, didn't do yet (do have backup). Xperts Xchg as you know is fee-based.

Arie: bloated or not, reader loads fast enough with reasonably fast cpus, so I remain comfortable using it. Foxit is not on Mac & my PC itself I only use rarely, and reader9 on OS 10 works ok & again is fast enuf & only choice (unless under x11).

Yes, but scroll to the bottom of the page for the proposed solutions - free :)

PeteC: I don't know if this is mac related, using gecko based browsers so should not be issue, but at the bottom of the page you describe, there are bars showing "assisted solutions" and "admin. comments." All these require a signup. Been there, not worth it.

They've changed the web page would you believe - when I posted that link all the comments/solutions were visible at the bottom of the screen, as they have been for a few years. No longer it would seem.
